Matthew: Chapter 1
(Re-imagined in a Quranic Style)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
- This is the account of the lineage of Jesus, the son of Mary, who was born in the time of Allah’s mercy and wisdom. The righteous and the blessed lineage through whom Allah’s mercy was sent to mankind.
- Indeed, the lineage of Jesus began with the Prophet David, the servant of Allah, who was chosen to lead the people in righteousness. And from David came the line of kings, whose hearts were devoted to Allah.
- And from David came Solomon, and from Solomon came the righteous kings who guided the people in the ways of Allah. Their names were many, but all were chosen for their righteousness.
- The lineage continued, passing through generations, and those who came from the line of the kings of Judah, the children of Israel, upheld the trust of Allah’s covenant.
- And the names of those in the lineage of Jesus continued with righteous men and women, among them were people of great virtue and piety.
- The lineage was preserved, and through it, Allah’s promise remained. From the line of the righteous came Jesus, the son of Mary, whom Allah chose to be His servant, the messenger, and the one who would bring guidance to the children of Israel.
- And the mother of Jesus was Mary, the chosen and the pure, who was honored above all women of her time. She was a woman of piety, who submitted to the will of Allah.
- And behold, the angel of Allah came to Mary, and said, "O Mary, Allah gives you the glad tidings of a son, whose name will be Jesus. He will be a sign for the people and a mercy from Allah."
- And Mary said, "How can this be, when I have never known a man?" And the angel replied, "It is as Allah wills. When Allah decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is."
- So Mary conceived Jesus by the command of Allah, and she withdrew from her people. And the child grew in her womb as Allah decreed.
- When the time came for the child to be born, Mary was in the city, and she gave birth to Jesus in a humble place, for Allah chose to send His mercy in simplicity.
- And Mary was honored by the people, but they mocked her, saying, "How can this be, that you have a child without a husband?" And she pointed to the child, and Allah made the child speak, saying, "I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Book and made me a prophet. He has made me blessed wherever I am, and He has commanded me to pray and give charity."
- When her people saw this, they were astonished, and they believed in the miracle of Jesus, though some remained in doubt.
- And when Jesus grew, he became a man of wisdom, and Allah taught him the knowledge of the Book, the Torah, and the wisdom of the past.
- And Jesus was sent as a mercy to the children of Israel, to guide them back to the straight path, to worship Allah alone, and to follow His commands.
- And the people of Israel, divided in their beliefs, were called to faith, to repentance, and to submission to the will of Allah.
- And many of them followed Jesus, but some rejected him, seeking to harm him because of their arrogance and disbelief.
- And Allah said, "O Jesus, they seek to harm you, but I will protect you from them. Your mission is to call them to righteousness and to deliver My message. And you are only a servant of Allah."
- And when the time came for Jesus to fulfill his mission, Allah sent him with signs and miracles, but only those who were humble in their hearts accepted the truth.
- And Allah made it known that the true followers of Jesus were those who believed in him and his message, and who obeyed the command of Allah.
- And the people of Israel, who had rejected Jesus, were warned that they would face the consequences of their rejection on the Day of Judgment.
- And Jesus said to them, "I have come to guide you to Allah, to lead you to righteousness, and to deliver you from the darkness of misguidance. Repent, and return to your Lord."
- And Allah, the Most Merciful, forgave the sins of those who truly repented and turned to Him, and He protected the faithful.
- And Allah commanded His messenger, Jesus, to remind the people that the true way is the way of submission to Allah, the way of peace, and the way of the righteous.
- Indeed, the mercy of Allah is vast, and His guidance is clear for those who seek it sincerely.

- After the birth of Jesus, the son of Mary, in the land of Bethlehem, in the region of Judah, during the reign of a king, there came men from the East, wise in knowledge and understanding, seeking the truth.
- They said, "We have seen the sign of the birth of a great one, the King who is to guide the people in righteousness. We seek His guidance and His light, for He is a sign of Allah’s mercy."
- When the king, Herod, heard this, he was troubled, for he feared that a rival would arise against his reign, and all Jerusalem with him was shaken.
- He gathered the chief priests and the scholars of the law, and he asked them, "Where is the Messiah to be born?"
- They replied, "In Bethlehem, for it is written in the scriptures, 'And you, Bethlehem, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.'" (Micah 5:2)
- So Herod secretly called the wise men and inquired of them when the star had appeared, and he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child. When you find Him, bring word to me so that I too may come and honor Him."
- The wise men, having heard the king, went on their way, and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, until it came and stood over the place where the child was.
- When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
- And they entered the house, and saw the child with His mother, Mary. They fell down and honored Him, offering their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, recognizing that this child was indeed a sign from Allah.
- But Allah warned the wise men in a dream not to return to Herod, so they departed for their own country by another way.
- Now, after they had left, the angel of Allah appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise, take the child and His mother, and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod will seek the child to destroy Him."
- So Joseph arose, took the child and His mother by night, and fled to Egypt. And they stayed there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, 'Out of Egypt I called My Servant.'" (Hosea 11:1)
- When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the wise men, he was exceedingly angry, and he sent forth soldiers to destroy all the male children who were in Bethlehem and its surrounding districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.
- Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 'A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.'" (Jeremiah 31:15)
- But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, "Arise, take the child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child’s life are dead."
- So Joseph arose, took the child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
- But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by Allah in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.
- And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He shall be called a Nazarene."
- Indeed, Allah’s plan is perfect, and His signs are evident to those who reflect on His will.
- And it is He who guides whom He wills, and who withholds His guidance from those who persist in their arrogance and disbelief.
- Thus, Jesus was born into the world as a mercy from Allah, a sign for the people, and a reminder of the truth that Allah is the only One worthy of worship.
- And those who sought to harm Him, seeking to fulfill their worldly desires, were thwarted by the will of Allah, who protected His servant from their evil.
- And Allah will never allow the plans of the arrogant to succeed, for He is the Most Powerful, the Most Wise.
- Verily, those who seek to harm the chosen ones of Allah will be repaid according to their deeds on the Day of Judgment, and they will find none to protect them from the justice of Allah.
- This is a reminder for those who fear Allah and believe in His signs: the story of Jesus, a prophet like all others, is but a testimony to the divine mercy and guidance that Allah offers to His creation.

- In the days when the people of Israel were in need of guidance, there arose among them a man named John the Baptist (Yahya), the son of Zechariah. He was a servant of Allah, a righteous man, chosen to call the people to repentance.
- John the Baptist preached in the wilderness of Judea, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of Allah is near. Prepare your hearts, for the mercy of Allah is coming to guide the people."
- He was the one spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, who said, "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for messiah, make straight paths for him.'" (Isaiah 40:3)
- John the Baptist wore clothes made of camel’s hair, and his food was locusts and wild honey. His appearance was humble, for he did not seek the luxuries of this world.
- Then people from Jerusalem, from all of Judea, and from all the region around the Jordan came to him.
- They confessed their sins, and he baptized them in the Jordan River as a symbol of their repentance.
- But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?"
- "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. Do not think you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones Allah can raise up children for Abraham."
- "The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."
- "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Spirit of Allah and with fire."
- "His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
- Then, from the wilderness, a voice was heard, saying, "Come, let us purify ourselves and seek the mercy of Allah, for His mercy is near to those who repent."
- And behold, John the Baptist (Yahya) saw Jesus son of Mary (Isa ibn Maryam) coming toward him to be baptized by him.
- But John the Baptist tried to deter Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?"
- And Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." And John the Baptist consented.
- As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment, heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of Allah descending like a dove and alighting upon him.
- And a voice from heaven said, "This is My beloved servant, in whom I am well pleased."
- After this, Jesus began his mission, calling the people to the straight path, to worship Allah alone, and to live righteously.
- And the people who heard his words and saw the signs he performed were astonished, but there were some among them who rejected him.
- And John the Baptist continued to call the people to repentance, warning them of the consequences of disobedience to Allah, and urging them to prepare their hearts for the coming of the one who would bring true guidance.
- "The path to righteousness is a difficult one," John the Baptist said, "but it is the only way to the mercy of Allah. Turn to Him, and He will forgive your sins."
- And Allah’s guidance is clear for those who seek it, and His mercy is near to those who repent and strive to do good.
- John the Baptist’s message was a reminder that true repentance leads to purification, and purification leads to the mercy of Allah.
- And as the people listened to John the Baptist and to Jesus, they were reminded of the words of the prophets of old, who had called the people to righteousness and obedience to Allah.
- And the voice of the prophets continues to echo through the ages, calling humanity to the path of righteousness, to worship Allah alone, and to live in peace and submission to His will.

Matthew: Chapter 4

- Then Jesus, the son of Mary, was led by the Spirit of Allah into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.
- And after fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.
- The devil came to Him and said, "If you are the servant of Allah, command that these stones be turned into bread."
- But Jesus replied, "It is written: 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of Allah.'" (Deuteronomy 8:3)
- Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
- "If you are the servant of Allah," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command His angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'" (Psalm 91:11-12)
- Jesus said to him, "It is also written: 'Do not put Allah to the test.'" (Deuteronomy 6:16)
- Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
- "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
- Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship Allah, and serve Him alone.'" (Deuteronomy 6:13)
- Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended to him.
- When Jesus heard that John (Yahya) had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee.
- Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake, in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali.
- To fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." (Isaiah 9:1-2)
- From that time on, Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of Allah has come near."
- As he walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
- "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people."
- At once they left their nets and followed him.
- Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
- Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
- News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them by the permission of Allah.
- Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and the region across the Jordan followed him.
- And he performed many signs and miracles, which were a testimony to his mission and his mercy from Allah to all those who believed.
- The people marveled at the signs that he performed, for Allah’s mercy and power were evident in his actions.
- And Allah is the source of all healing, all guidance, and all mercy. His servant, Jesus, was a sign to the people of His grace.

- When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to Him, and He began to teach them, saying:
- "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Allah."
- "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
- "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."
- "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
- "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
- "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see Allah."
- "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called servants of Allah."
- "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Allah."
- "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in the heavens, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
- "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men."
- "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden."
- "Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."
- "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your God in heaven."
- "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."
- "For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."
- "Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of Allah. But whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of Allah."
- "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of Allah."
- "You have heard that it was said to those before you, 'You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment." (Exodus 20:13)
- "Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, 'Raqa,' is answerable to the court; and anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of Hell."
- "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift."
- "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison."
- "Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny."
- "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' (Exodus 20:14)
- "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
- "If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into Hell."
- "And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into Hell."
- "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' (Deuteronomy 24:1)
- "But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
- "Again, you have heard that it was said to those before you, 'Do not break your oath, but fulfill to Allah the vows you have made.' (Numbers 30:2)
- "But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is Allah's throne;
- "or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King."
- "And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black."
- "All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one."
- "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' (Exodus 21:24)
- "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also."
- "And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well."
- "If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles."
- "Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

Matthew: Chapter 6

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
- Beware of practicing your righteousness before others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Lord in the heavens.
- So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by people. Truly, they have received their reward.
- But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
- so that your giving may be in secret. Then your God, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you openly.
- And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
- But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your God, who is unseen; and your God, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
- And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like the pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
- Do not be like them, for your God knows what you need before you ask Him.
- This, then, is how you should pray:
- "Our God in the heavens, hallowed be Your Name.
- Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in the heavens.
- Give us today our daily bread.
- Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
- And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."
- For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly God will also forgive you.
- But if you do not forgive others their sins, your God will not forgive your sins.
- When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
- But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
- so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your God, who is unseen; and your God, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
- Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
- But store up for yourselves treasures in the heavens, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
- For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.
